Zoom Lecture for Guilds

Guilds and arts groups regularly inquire about my lecture, "One Wild Ride," the whole cheesecloth story. It answers the perennial question: "How the heck did you come up with this?!" and shows the wild ride of my discovery.

Teaching

In 2024, I suspended my zoom and in-person teaching to focus on getting to know my new city, Victoria, BC, organizing my new studio to create work, and travelling to visit my three new grandkids! I may occasionally offer weeklong in-person classes and will post details here if any are scheduled.

If time permits, I will try to accommodate other groups who are interested in a class.

Here's What Guilds Have Said

Dawn H

Hi Mary,
You were fantastic!  Thank you so very much.   Of all the zoom lectures, programs, presentations, etc... I’ve seen in the last twelve months, you and Kathy Wylie (add Hollis Chatelain into the mix, too)  have set the bar for quality presentations.

Hi Mary!
What an outstanding presentation you gave us today-everyone was thrilled! The compliments keep pouring in -everyone loved your presentation.  I'm already getting requests for your classes (which has never happened before!)

Joan W

Your presentation was most inspiring and your words of encouragement to step outside one’s comfort zone to learn new things, will be a mantra that will hopefully always play in my ears. Comments in the breakout rooms were positive and filled with enthusiasm about your presentation. You truly are an amazing artist.

I also took the course with [my group]. We were able to use both the virtual and video teaching methods. The virtual part allowed us to have live instruction, real time one-on-one with Mary, questions and answers along the way, and Mary’s critiques of the portraits during the process.
Various members shared how they planned to use the cheesecloth method to create other fabric art such as landscapes. After the class we had access to the videos and I took notes, and was able to catch little tidbits of fine tuning that I missed in the class. This course is well worth the money and, as a guild or group, take it up a notch and do it virtual.
